A few months ago I posted a shot I took in the stairwell at the Tattered Cover Bookstore in lower downtown Denver. I loved the concept, but wasn’t happy with how I framed it (or, for that matter, the color balance). So last week I went back to see if I could get it right. Much better this time.

There are just all kinds of neat places to sit and read at the Tattered Cover. This, by the way, is directly across from the theater seats I posted a few days back, so it has a cool view, as well.

The Tattered Cover Bookstore’s Colfax Ave. location opened as the Bonfils Memorial Theater in 1953 and its productions featured such luminaries as Kevin Kline, David Ogden Stiers, Joan Van Ark, Julia Child and Paul Winfield. For a bit more history, have a look here.
These theater chairs and several others, testament to the building’s history, sit in a little reading pit. Relax – the show is about to start.
