I live in Colorado, which means by law I’m required to shoot landscapes. But my primary interests tend more to the macro world of late – close-up studies of metallics and florals (with my orchid series probably being my favorite). And I’m also doing a lot more exploration of abstracts which are best classified not as photography but as photographic art.
You can see more of what I’m up to – as an artists and a writer – by visiting:
- Lullaby Pit: Personal blog. Founded in April of 1994, the Pit is one of the 2000 oldest branded sites on the Web.
- Ello: This is a personal photo workshop for me and the content generally mirrors what I post here. But Ello is so incredibly friendly to artists and shooters that I can’t resist having my work displayed in that design environment.
- Scholars & Rogues: A journal of progressive culture. I’m a founder and publisher, as well as the most active contributor.
I shoot with a Nikon D5300. My favorite toys are my Nikor fixed 60mm macro lens and an awesome Tamron 10-24mm wide-angle. I process (and in some cases overprocess) using Lightroom, Photoshop, several filters in the Nik suite, and more recently the On1 package has been added to the workflow. My photography hero is Andreas Feininger. Here’s why.
