My primary effort on this is to give it a little bit of an “old travel snapshot” look. As such it’s got some extra color saturation and a little fade, plus vignetting to make it look as though the storm is slightly broken directly above the road. Frankly, I should have taken a bit more time, but I’m kind of rushed.
It’s a lovely image to begin with….
I don’t know where this is, but I freakin’ love it.
When I first opened this shot I was immediately struck by its remarkable symmetry and framing. So I decided to add a border overlay filter that made more transparent for the viewer just how Denny handled the composition. Being me, I also processed for contrast and color boost.
The idea has been kicking around for a couple years now thanks to Michael Pecaut. Now six of us (Mike, Greg Thow, Greg Stene, Evan Robinson, Denny Wilkins and myself) are going to do it.
The rules:
I’m not sure what to expect. Most of my colleagues are more faithful, straight-up photographers, so I might anticipate them taking a direct path. I tend to be more digital artsy than photographery, so I may take more liberties. Or I could be wrong.
I do know I was told I – in forceful language – couldn’t submit any of my doll shots, which I think is horribly unfair….
[ahem]
Anyway, I’ll have my first one up shortly.
