Route 50, Nevada: Photo by Denny Wilkins; production by wintersmith
When I first opened this shot I was immediately struck by its remarkable symmetry and framing. So I decided to add a border overlay filter that made more transparent for the viewer just how Denny handled the composition. Being me, I also processed for contrast and color boost.

I have yet to find a way to process this image that I like. Getting the highlight detail in the sun-struck mountain and the clouds above — while keeping shadow detail in the trees bordering the highway — has flummoxed me. I like the framing, but I can’t tell if the black spots were birds I hadn’t noticed before or part of the processing. Thanks for taking it on.
I can’t wait to do this one. I hate the squares on it.. I get the point, but no bueno for me…
Well, I’m likely the most different in the crowd, so I’m going to try and do something unconventional, probably. When it comes to straight photo processing, I’m surrounded by five people who are all a lot better than me.
