Kara’s cabin …

In 1992, I slept beside this abandoned cabin along Route 305 north of Austin, Nevada. I remembered it. It became a pivotal scene for Kara, the female protagonist in “mapping Utah,” my first novel. I revisited the cabin this summer.

  1. It is beautifully made, someone obviously took great care to build it. Sad it is left to ruin.

There are several structures like this on 305 between Austin and Battle Mountain. I’ll be posting images of more of these iconic stone buildings.

  2. Nice framing, BTW. Moving the cabin to the right gave the image some nice dynamic.
