Looking at this image, I am reminded of how vast the Montana sky is, how freaking forever the land goes on.
I have just invented a name for this kind of distance. A three-horse ride.
You ride the first horse toward the mountains until it dies. You ride the second horse toward the mountains until it dies. You buy a third horse but it refuses to carry you anywhere because it’s heard about how horses end up when they take you somewhere.
Then you thumb a ride with a passing converted hippie school bus headed for the mountains. It runs out of gas.
