I was calling it quits with my fishing attempt and decided to donate the bait to the birds, which I knew would create a lot of drama! I waited and waited to see if that seagull would try to take over but it did not. I was most surprised that other more aggressive gulls did not swoop in, which may have happened eventually. It’s always fun to watch the bird drama at the beach!
That’s some pretty stout bait Cyndi what were you fishing for? Comrade gull must’ve had a full belly, the ones I’ve known wouldn’t think twice about ripping off some runt grackles.

Fishing for drum with cut bait. I too was surprised at the gull’s unusually timid behavior.
