  1. A particularly sad image today as I sit listening to the news of yet another mass shooting in America. Another senseless tragedy and this time in our nation’s capitol. I do not mean to start anything political here – just thinking of the victims and their families.

  2. Not sure if I would call this a “ghettoscape” as much as a “rural landscape”. This was taken in a tiny tiny town in the middle of nowhere and I think I was drawn to the colors and symmetry as much as the emotion. It was the unexpected beauty that caught my eye along this little country road.

    • Agreed Cyndi, ghetto carries too many racial connotations. What it reminds me of is poverty and neglect and the laissez-faire attitude of why do anything, it will just have to be redone later. Human entropy in action!

  3. Frank I think that what I am documenting in many of my rural images is more about the Wal-Martization of America and the inability of small local mom and pop businesses to stay afloat. While this tiny town has no Wal-Mart (or much of anything), I’m sure there is one “just down the road” even if that is an hour’s drive away. So these once elegant buildings fall into disrepair and end up completely abandoned.
