This takes me back. When I was younger and living within 1000 miles of an ocean, I’d occasionally find myself on a beach. Piers along the Carolina coast have this time machine effect on me – they’re so old that I can’t help imagining my parents as teenagers walking in the very same place, seeing a newer version of the same thing.
