I’ve noticed a tendency toward getting into high-contrast work. I like the drama. The ferns were the showpiece here, and the rest of the world … just a frame.

I’ve always liked high-contrast work. (Probably from the summers I spent in Alaska shooting snow/ice and rock.) I’m somewhat frustrated in doing h/c digitally, however. I can’t seem to achieve the same intensity of whites vs. blacks that I could with film. Part of that, I suppose, is operator error. Part may be the ability of the computer screen to display them.
You know me – I’m loving the high contrasty, saturated, high-drama stuff. I envy your ability to do this kind of shooting in areas of lush vegetation.
Draws you into the magic of the secret fern world. This and the other image with the red blossoms are lovely and inviting.
