Every Arch photo I’ve ever seen portrays the Arch as a shiny surface. Its sheen has always seemed seamless. The power of this image is the articulation of its construction. Each panel is clearly etched into the reader’s eye. (I suppose the clouds are kinda nice, too …) A wonderful shot.
i like the fact that you cropped it. everyone wants to present the whole thing (like the arch at Arches National Park). as a culture, we already know the whole thing. you gave us what we needed.
There’s something entirely ethereal about this. Most of the shots I’ve seen are travel photos set against an achingly blue sky. The clouds make it appear floaty — a sort of silvery rainbow. I really like this shot. Thanks.
The way this one is shot is almost sci-fi. It looks like some kind of otherworldly structure in the sky. My mind is waiting for the hovercar to zoom through the shot.

Thanks Denny.. yeah, the different panels I wasn’t expecting.. this one turned out better than I’d hoped.

GS, make no mistake I have plenty of Arch shots where the whole thing is visible also… 🙂
