  1. “Camera as brush” was a term coined by Minor White to delineate between photography as documenting something real, as in photojournalism, and a process in which the image coming out of the camera is only the starting point of the creative process. In the latter, the object is not to capture a ‘true’ image of something. Rather, it is to use an image of something to create something else entirely.
