First, great shots. Second, am I looking at some kind of lens warp shot? There’s kind of an interesting spatial effect at work, I think. How did you do this?
No spatial effects with this one. I shot it with my Sony NEX-7, with my zoom lens at 19mm. Given the sensor size, that’s equivalent to about 24mm. So the wide angle emphasized an aspect of the landscape that was already evident to the naked eye. If you look carefully, you may notice that I’m on the axis of linear incline that rises ahead of me (toward the ocean, actually), and falls off on either side of me. The outward cant of some of the trees contributes to the overall effect. I have to say that when I first came on the scene, what attracted me the most were the pools of luminous light and the filagree of the cypress branches. I’m also sure that the arresting, warp-like feel also registered somewhere in my brain, otherwise I wouldn’t have stopped to shoot at this particular spot. But so did the fallen limb in the left foreground of the image.
In any case, this is a magical spot that would probably conjure spiritual feelings in even the most devoted atheist, especially toward dusk. I highly recommend that you go see it before you die. The Cyprus Grove Trail, Point Lobos State Reseve.

Love the circular energy created by the limbs in that top shot.
Amazingly serene …
