It’s also known as a quaking bog. Essentially, it’s an island of peat-like matter floating on water. Here’s one def: “a bog formed of peat or woven rushes and shrubs that forms over water or soft mud and shakes when walked upon.” That’s the cool part. You paddle out to it, get onto it, and jump up and down. It “quakes”; it’s like walking a trampoline beside it is not underlain by a solid soil horizon or bedrock.
I jumped on a bog in Ireland. It is the strangest feeling. This pic is making me think of pulling together a few of my water lily shots. There have a few places where I completely ignored what I was supposed to be admiring because I was focused on the flowers. Haha.
Love this, although I don’t know what a hanging bog is.
